Bible Text: 1 John 1:7
“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”
Personal Reflection: I recently took my annual Daily Audio Bible Long Walk where I take a day off from work and the busyness of life to spend a day with the Lord. I headed out to Burgess Falls State Park to enjoy some quite time alone with the Lord among his beautiful creation. As I stared at the power of the rushing water over the rocks, I noticed how smooth and clean the rocks are. Then I heard the Spirit of the Lord say, “You are that rock.” My first thought was, huh? Then He continued, “You are that rock, and I am the river that has smoothed and cleansed you. Stay in the river of my love.” As I continued reflecting on this conversation, I thanked God that Jesus has forgiven me of my sins and how He continues to transform me day by day, choice by choice.
Personal Application: Jesus’ blood has cleansed me from all my sins, but that is not where this story ends. What happens when the rock comes out of the water? Moss, algae, and dirt all begin to pile up on top of the rock because the water isn’t constantly cleansing it. The things of this world are hiding what was once smooth and clean because of the cleansing water. This is why I need to stay in the river of Christ’s love. I need to continue to live in the grace, mercy, and will of Jesus so that my light is not hidden under the worries of this world. I also need to remain in fellowship with you, my brothers and sisters, because no matter how heavy the weight of this world or my sins become you will encourage or push me back into the river for we are all one body in Christ.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for washing away all my sins by the blood of Christ Jesus. Lord, I pray that You continually allow me to humble myself before You and my brothers and sisters, so that I can remain in Your grace, mercy, and will that continues to cleanse and smooth me on a daily basis so Your light can shine to all those that You have put in my path. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
