BIBLE TEXT: Luke 12:6-7: “What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
2 Corinthians 7-8: You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully. And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: So I have decided to just be transparent with all of you. I am struggling financially and I keep asking myself why. My bills haven’t changed, I don’t have any extra expenses, and the boys are not playing sports or taking music lessons right now. I should have extra money right now but I don’t. I live paycheck to paycheck praying the money will go as far as I need it to.
This week in my prayer time I asked God why. What is going on? What did I change? I am sure all of you can guess it….it’s tithing. When I was without a job or just cleaning a few houses I was tithing and had more than enough. I didn’t worry about how I was going to pay the bills or where the money was going to come from. It was just there. I believe I got comfortable and tithing was no longer a priority. Sadly it is harder for me to trust now. It is harder for me to write that check or let go of that 10% and that breaks my heart. But I will do better. I will pray through it and I will get to where God is calling me and leading me.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for this revelation. I pray my transparency touches others and opens eyes to your truth.. Please continue to lovingly draw me back to you, Father. I thank you for your wisdom, love, and provision. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
