BIBLE TEXT: Habakkuk 3:17-19: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.”
PERSONAL REFLECTION: What has God been saying to you? What has He been talking to you about lately? Are you ready to answer this question or does this question leave you stumped?
Psalm 95:7: “For he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today!”
If we tune in, we will hear Him speak. If you think He isn’t talking to you then your focus is on something else. What are you focusing on? Someone else’s opinion of you? Financial worries? The pain of a hurtful experience of the past? Your anger against someone who hurt you? Work responsibilities? Illness?
The greatest tragedy in the American church today is that we are completely distracted and do not live our lives centered in the Holy Spirit. How can we bring light and life to the world if we are not connected to the Creator? How can we possibly have inner peace if we are not communicating with the Prince of Peace?
Again I ask you, WHAT HAS GOD BEEN TALKING TO YOU ABOUT LATELY? If you can’t answer, run to Him. Make communication with the Lord the number one priority in your life because that is where good fruit is born. We need His guidance, His direction, but above all we need His Presence in our lives. Can we live without it? Sure. Many people do, but I’m not sure they live beyond survival mode. I want more than that. Don’t you?
Lord, I ask for forgiveness for being disobedient, rebellious, and for thinking that I don’t need to speak with you in order to do right. You are everything, God. You are EVERYTHING. There is no “doing right” without YOU. Without You and your Word I am empty. I repent from the spirit of independence that keeps me apart from You. Holy Spirit, fill me up in Jesus’s Name. Amen
