“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.”
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Jesus prayed often, but almost always went off by himself. Here He is praying for the disciples, as well as all future believers. Jesus and the disciples are gathered in the upper room before He goes to the Garden of Gethsemane. He knows He will soon die and is praying for unity among believers, so that the world will believe that the Father has truly sent Him. If one of the last things Jesus prayed about is unity in the body, it must be extremely important. He gave us all we need to come together and to love one another.
In the last days, it will be necessary for the whole body to be unified in Him and in His love. That is what sets us apart in the world. There are so many things the enemy uses for division in the world and in the church. It is important for us to get past the plans of the enemy to divide us. We must unify in the glory that Jesus gave to us. The Glory is the revelation of God and His character, but it also His presence through the Holy Spirit. It is only by walking in the Glory that we will be unified.
PRAYER: Lord help me be a unifying force in the body of Christ by always walking in Your Glory and love. As things get harder on the earth, may we stand out and represent the Lord well in our unity and love. May the people of the world who don’t know You, see our unity and know that You are who You say You are. May they believe that the one true God sent You. In Jesus name, Amen.
