BIBLE TEXT: Psalm 62:8: “Oh my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.”
PERSONAL REFLECTION: I have to say I did not order my Trouble Sandwich properly two weeks ago. I only ate the middle of the sandwich and it was not very satisfying. I poured out my heart and all my feelings to the Lord, but wasn’t sure I wanted to trust or seek refuge in Him. In the pain of God taking my mother from me, I lost sight of who God is.
I was flooded with emotions that I believed He had a hand in causing. God gently and slowly guided me back to trusting Him. He gave a vision and a word to a friend which brought to mind a scripture that my mom had shared with me a long time ago. The scripture went right along with the vision. It was Is. 57:1-2. I was able to trust that God knew what I was going through and that He truly had a greater plan. Then I was able to share more deeply from my heart and take refuge under His wing. It is there I will remain. It is a wonderful place of peace and comfort.
I will do my best to learn from this lesson. When those difficult and emotional times come, I can trust Him and pour out to Him and take refuge in Him. I know all this in my head, but I now know it in my heart in a much deeper way. I will sandwich my pain, emotions, and grief in the trustworthiness of Him and the faith that He will take care and protect me. I think I have a deeper understanding in my heart that He has a plan and it is not to harm us, but to give us a hope and a future. He is good, trustworthy and protective.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to always go to what I know about you first, so that you can guide me to the answers and comfort that you have for me. Help us not to be tossed about on a Sea of emotion but to deeply share with you in that safe place. I am so grateful for you and so deeply touched by your love. Help me to trust in you always and to seek refuge in you only. I love you Lord. You are so very good all the time.
