Tears of Joy

 Bible Text:  Mark 10:29-30:

“Yes, Jesus replied, and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or   father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property – along with persecution.  And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.”

Personal Reflection:

In the early morning on March 1st this year, I was walking my dog and listening to the Daily Audio Bible podcast for March 1st.  After hearing the above passage in the book of Mark, I began to weep.  What swept over me at that moment was the realization of the fulfillment or God’s promise to me for being obedient to his call.

Personal Application

Exactly one year earlier my family and I were in our rental home in the suburbs of Chicago packing up our belongings in preparation for our move to Tennessee.  We were leaving behind the comforts of living in the same town as my parents, siblings, and the place where my business operates out of.  We were leaving behind a church family that we had just found and absolutely loved.  We were heading to Mount Juliet, Tennessee, where we didn’t know a soul.  In my family’s eyes it did not make any sense, and many times I questioned the decision as well, but the Lord kept saying it was time to go.  After a few months of being here in Tennessee and attending Life Assembly our family was surrounded by more friends than we ever had in Chicago.  These friends were not just my friends they are literally my brothers, my sisters, my parents, my children.  I was weeping with joy of having received over 100 times more than I ever left behind.

Prayer

Father, thank you for your unfailing love and for fulfilling your promises to those whom obey you.  Thank you for the friends, family, and church that I now have here in Mount Juliet.  Your will for my life far exceeds anything I could ever dream of, so let me remember to trust You and Your will even when it doesn’t make sense to me.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen.
