BIBLE TEXT: Psalm 86:15: But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (NIV)
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Over the years I have had my patience tested in so many ways not only with friends, family, or society but with my children. As parents we have to learn to be patient with our children when it comes to many things like potty training, learning to walk, homework, talking, or just learning right from wrong. Children tend to push to see just how much they can get away.
I recently dropped to my knees by my bed begging God for more patience with my youngest after her most recent bout of trouble. I felt as if was going to break — losing control and my temper — when I felt the Lord give me that extra push of faith and patience to get me through the day. After asking God for help, I received a much needed call from a friend who was going through the exact same thing I had been dealing with. I knew God was telling me, “You are not alone.”
PERSONAL APPLICATION: As Christians, we go through difficult situations and we pray to God for that extra bit of patience with our children, family, friends, or society. God has patience with us for so many things in this world. If God can be slow to anger and still have love and faithfulness toward us, we can do the same with those around us.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I ask for extra patience, love, and abounding faith for all whom are around me during times of stress. Teach us to have the strength to deal with those around us, as You have dealt with much heartache around the world.
