BIBLE TEXT:  1 Peter 4:8 Above all things, have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. (AMP)

PERSONAL REFLECTION:  This verse challenges me to love people the way God loves me.  Wow!  That’s a lot of love.  After all, He loved the world so much that He sent the Word to become flesh and live among us so He could prove His existence.  And He did this while we were still sinners, not that any of us deserve Him any more now than we did then, but He loves us in spite of ourselves.

He loves us when we push Him away.  He loves us when we reject His truth.  He loves us when we ignore His commandments.  He loves us when we stand silent and don’t testify of Him.  He loves us when we just plain screw up over, and over, and over again.  He still loves us!  He loves us enough to give His life in exchange for ours that we may believe (place all of our trust) in Him.

And no matter what you’ve done, no matter what haunts you from your past, no matter how much the devil lies to you, no matter how poorly you may see yourself, no matter how much guilt you may carry, God…still…loves you.

Valentine’s Day is nice, but God loves you every day!  Surrender to Him.

PERSONAL APPLICATION:  Do I love people with this kind of love?  Overall, no.  I need God’s love so I can be a better witness for Him.

PRAYER: God, I ask You to give me the same love that You have for people.  Help me see people the way You see them.  And give me boldness to testify of Your gospel, in the name of Jesus.  So be it!

I thank God for my incredible family. After 41 years, I am still learning to love.
