BIBLE TEXT:  When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.  -John 8:44 | NKJV

PERSONAL REFLECTION:  God chose at the “appointed time” to reveal to me His strongest desire:  to be BELIEVED. The simplicity of this TRUTH, has been overshadowed in my life by the darkness of a lie. In fact, 52 years lived in “error.”

Life is a classroom. I was having conversational prayer recently spirit to Spirit with my “I KNOW.”

I said, “Lord, Sir, I am scared” (referring to a life direction change, in obedience to a prior conversation and confirmed by both signs and oral revelations). He said, “I KNOW.”

Stunned by His response, I said, “If I am totally honest, I’m afraid.”

Same response, “I KNOW.”

And there it was. The ah-ha moment — the personal revelation with my name on it! The Light of Truth and correction pierced its way into and through my LIE. In an instant, God let ME know that He already knows. Ka-Boom! One priority of the Holy Spirit is to teach us. God created us in His image so after I confessed my fear and He explained to me that He already knew that about me and that He was just waiting for me to be honest with me (that is confession) and to quit lying to myself, He then said, “Now, that you (son) have that out of the way, what do you want to talk about?”

Wow.

For Moses, God revealed Himself as the I AM. For me, He is now the I KNOW. Why? Simple. Because He does. He is just waiting for us to be HONEST enough with ourselves that we believe ALL of Him and what He has said, wrote, and says. Don’t miss it. We lie to ourselves. We rather believe a lie than the truth. We can lie to ourselves for so long, we believe our own lie.

The Holy Spirit in that moment settled once and for all a lie that I believed. The father of lies will speak fear and doubt into our lives. It is the enemy of our soul’s oldest scheme. He tempted Eve to doubt what God said (His word). The learning in life’s classroom is to gain understanding and instruction in TRUTH  –  all of His word  – not just my and your theological, religious, self-serving, selective, twisted, easy portions that “fit” our belief in our own lie. The enemy will twist scripture and will entice us to do the same to justify our wrong beliefs and actions.

So what lie do you believe that keeps you from a MORE life  – a life engulfed in peace, joy and REST? The source of your unrest may be a lie spoken to you by a parent (ex: “you’re stupid”) or a bad marital relationship, or a financial or health crisis, or maybe unforgiveness. Or maybe even an experience or an emotion (fear), both of which the enemy will use to speak a lie or cast doubt into and over your life. Possibly even a false teaching that you have bought into. Ask in the Power of a Question: Father, Sir, please reveal to me any lie(s) in my life–  the wound, the lie in my soul?

And most importantly be honest with yourself. If, YOU will be honest with YOU, He will reveal more of Himself (the truth) to YOU.

PERSONAL APPLICATIONJust get real. Get gut-level, brutally honest. HE ALREADY KNOWS! He can work with real, unpolluted honesty that does not hide. He cannot dwell within a liar. He is not a man that He should lie. Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit– a grievous mistake, a huge ERROR.

PRAYERFather, Sir, I invite You into this reflection. I release the “Spirit of Truth” into and over your people. Your tomb is empty and that is TRUTH. We have been deceived for too long believing the lies of the father of lies. I decree and declare a new season of truth and honesty without fear or judgment in our church and a fresh anointing of love the likes we have never seen or experienced. I BELIEVE You!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I love to write down what I hear the “I KNOW” speak into my spirit each day as Root Words, of which this is a sample. I love traveling and learning with my incredible wife Paula, spending time with my 3 daughters and 2 grandsons, playing, riding  4-wheelers, walking in the woods, and spending time with other men who have a passion for the MORE life with Jesus.
