BIBLE TEXT: Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for He chose us in advance, and He makes everything work out according to His plan. -Ephesians 1:11
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Teaching music is tough. I’m busy, wear a million hats, work overtime, and never truly leave my job. I give my all to my students, trying to support them, love them unconditionally, encourage them, and bring out the best in them. Oh, and teach them music, too!
I truly believe God places people in our lives to help mold us and shape us. I pray every day that I would be that person to someone, and pray to be His hands and feet on my daily walk through life. In the past month I’ve had more affirmation than ever that I am right where God wants me to be. Multiple students have posted on Facebook, sent me emails, and bragged to complete strangers that I have made a difference in their lives. What a humbling experience!
Many days when I’m at my wits end, ready to give up, I remember God’s promise, and I am reminded that “everything works out according to his plan”. This takes the stress off of me, and puts it right back on Him! I can then focus on listening to Him, letting Him guide me through the tough times, and keep loving, teaching, supporting and encouraging students every day.
I would encourage everyone to let Him guide you. When you are unsure, pray! When you want to give up, pray! When your life takes a different turn, pray! Knowing God is in control takes the pressure off us feeling like we need to be perfect, in control, or something special to everyone. Just let Him lead!
PERSONAL APPLICATION: When I was in middle school I figured out that I wanted to be a music teacher. Of course I did not really know the first thing about it, but I loved music, I loved my music teacher, and I thought it would be cool to be able to work with kids. I now know that God placed that desire in my heart, and has guided me along His path to work towards His plan for my life.
PRAYER: Lord, help me let go and let you control my life. Please speak to me in times of trials, and help me hear your voice when all I want to do is scream. Help me be your hands and feet every day to others. I want to show Your LOVE through my actions, words and life. In your name, Amen.
