The city of Miami is known for its blistering heat, its beaches, its hurricanes, its basketball team- the Miami heat, CSi Miami, Miami Vice, and His House Children’s Home. His House is dedicated to restoring joy in the lives of children and families. Established in 1989 by Jean Caceres-Gonzalez, the agency provides residential care for abused, neglected, and drug-exposed children in a campus home-like setting. The goal is to restore the emotional and physical well-being of children through an array of services in a loving and nurturing environment.
His House is licensed as a shelter and child-placement agency. The agency is a front-line provider of residential services when an abused child first comes into care. Its services as a child-placement agency allows for a continuum of care as His House recruits and trains foster and adoptive families to place children in homes.
This past year, His House played a major role in processing Haitian orphans as a deluge of them were rushed to America after the Haitian earthquake for placement and treatment. Many of these children still remain under the care of His House. Its model is unlike your typical children’s program. The home is staffed with house parents and supporting caregivers. Each house provides a home for ten to twelve children. It is the goal of His House to give each cottage a family-feel and make the home as cozy and home-like as possible. His House is in the heat of battle for the lives of children.
