BIBLE TEXT: John 10:10 –Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
PERSONAL REFLECTION: His little hand in mine. Hearing “Te amo” (I love you) for the hundredth time. Seeing his beautiful brown eyes look to me for approval. Receiving a bear hug tighter than any other. These were all precious blessings I received from Ismael. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss every bit of him and the rest of the children at the Bolivian Hope Center. Being at the center of God’s will for our lives has been one amazing ride. Things weren’t always this way. We, like Jonah, ran from the calling the Lord had for us. We were full of the doubts and fears that come with a task that just seemed so overwhelming. It wasn’t until the Lord completely and totally broke our hearts that we were able to lay aside our selfish ambitions and be obedient. We have had to make sacrifices. There have been tears of joy and heartache. With all of that though, there has been complete peace and joy in knowing we are doing exactly what we have been called to do. Now, we wouldn’t… no, we couldn’t imagine not being obedient to the call He placed on our lives. The Lord’s desire for us is now our heart’s desire.
The Lord wants for us to live a life that is full. So often we spend our days running from one appointment to another and think life is just to be survived. Life is so much more than a paycheck. The Lord desires us to have life to the fullest. When we are doing what the Lord has called us to do, even through the tough times, there is no better way to live.
PERSONAL APPLICATION: Is there something the Lord has been calling you to do but you have doubts, worries, or fears that the task, the calling, is just too much to accomplish? Good news – you don’t have to! God owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), He equips those He calls (Phil. 2:13), and He has not given us a spirit of fear (2 Tim. 1:7). It’s never too late to get started. Heed the call.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you that you know the plans you have for us. Help us to trust you in them. Help us to be obedient and not grow weary in following the call you have placed in our lives. Allow us to truly realize what it is like to be full of life.- Amen
