BIBLE TEXT: Romans 12:1-2 (NIV): “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Decisions! Some decisions are made easily and seemingly without consequence, but others require much thought and prayer as the results can send your life down a different path. Decision making can be exhausting and confusing. Perhaps a deadline is looming for a decision to be made. This only adds more pressure!
Jesus gives us insight into our decision making by saying, “All you need to say is simply “yes” or “no…” (Matthew 5:37, NIV). Sounds easy enough, right? But sometimes we don’t even know where to begin! This is where our key scripture comes into play. By allowing our minds to be transformed by the Spirit of God, we begin to think like God. We want what He wants. When we desire the same things that He does for our lives, He will surely be faithful to lead us and guide us on that path. The awesome thing about asking God for direction is that He will give it. It is often in that still small voice that we hear. God also uses other mature believers to confirm in us what we hear God telling us to do. God is calling, the door is opening….just do it! Step out and trust God for your next step no matter how big or small it is.
PERSONAL APPLICATION: One thing that I have seen confirmed many times over years of following Jesus is that He loves me and wants His best for me. My husband and I have been faced with a lot of tough decisions over the past year. After months of praying for growth and His leading in our lives, we were presented with an opportunity for my husband take a job in another state. This could be a great adventure for our young family, but we would also mean giving up a great life in Florida. After much prayer we decided to step out and trust God. He has blessed us so much in doing so. We have grown closer to God and as a family and have gained an awesome church family at Life. We have been once again reminded that when we trust Him He is faithful and provides for our every need!
PRAYER: God, we want what you want for our lives. Please direct our steps today and help us to live a life that is pleasing to you in every way.
