BIBLE TEXT: Isaiah 54:17: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord. (NKJV)
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Multiple messages can be spoken from this powerful verse but something that jumped out at me over the last several months is the part that reads “every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn.” To whom is the “you” speaking? “You” is literally speaking to you, to me, to all of us who truly place our trust into the hands of God, to those of us who surrender our will to His.
Condemn: to pronounce to be guilty, to give grounds for convicting, to pronounce to be unfit for use, to force into a specific state or activity: because of the blood of Jesus Christ, the demons are condemned to hell.
So then “you shall condemn” means we personally shall show the accusations to be in the wrong. Assuming that “every tongue” is referring to the demons which constantly accuse us, we are to not only not accept their false accusations (You aren’t good enough. Look what you did again. You don’t have what it takes. You call yourself a Christian? You are full of fear. Who do you think you are?), but we are to put them in their place through the authority given to us by the blood of Jesus Christ.
So, the next time you are attacked, even subtly, by the evil that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy you and those around you, rise up in the boldness of the Holy Spirit and condemn their accusations by telling those demonic forces that you are more than a conqueror! You have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Rebuke those demonic forces and command them to leave in the name of Jesus Christ! (James 4:7)
PERSONAL APPLICATION: God has allowed me to see His power at work many times over the course of my life and I give Him glory for proving Himself to me over and over. More and more I recognize the fact that He is calling His followers to rise up and be the warriors He designed us to be.
PRAYER: God, You know how desperately I need You. I surrender my life to You. I ask You to keep me humble and use me to preach Your gospel in love and boldness. May You be glorified through my thoughts, words, and actions in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ. So be it!
