BIBLE TEXT: Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Back in March, when the church was walking around the Prayer Trail, I was walking the trail early in the morning. A string of candles sitting on the ground were the only light for the path I should follow. I remember thinking how cool it was that such a small light, the light from one candle, could light my way around the 27 acres of property. Usually, I could only see one or two candles at a time. But if I was on top of a hill, then I could see the flames from a long, winding string of candles. Still, darkness surrounded me on all sides as I walked from light to light.
Sometimes we cannot see what lies in the darkness just on the other side of our lit path of life, but we follow the trail of light anyway, knowing that it is the safest way to our destination.
Are you on the path that God has for you, or are you chasing sounds and shadows through the darkness that continually lead you away from the light? Perhaps you are too afraid to follow the trail that God has lit for you. Maybe you are having trouble knowing where God’s light is shining? Read your Bible and pray. This must be done daily, throughout the day if possible, or you will easily step out of God’s will for your life. I have proven it time and time again.
PERSONAL APPLICATION: I have learned that I must be in God’s word and pray daily. Otherwise His light becomes dim because I move away from Him.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank You that You have kept me tethered to You when I have pulled away so desperately. You are my Rock. I may not see my destination but You always show me my next step. You protect me and guard me from the evil that lurks just outside of Your protection and I thank You for being my Shield. I love You Lord and I ask You to continue correcting me before I step off of Your trail. In Your name, Amen.
