BIBLE TEXT: Ephesians 6:12-13: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
PERSONAL REFLECTION: Let’s be honest. How many of us, before we exit our houses every morning, put on the full armor of God? So many of us are able to quote this actual verse. So many of us have heard this verse over and over again, it has become dull to our ears. We are fighting in a battle every day whether we want to be aware of it or not. It is very similar to the war our county is fighting in Afghanistan. Our daily grind takes place usually without one thought that soldiers are there giving their lives for our freedom to keep us from living the next terrorist attack. That battle is very real. Human lives are being sacrificed. Our spiritual battle is much of the same. We have no clue what is happening hour by hour in the spiritual realm while we go unknowingly through our day enjoying the freedoms Christ has given us. The deceiver, the liar, the destroyer is claiming souls every minute of every day and if we are not careful we will lose a very real spiritual battle. Our opponent is cunning and crafty. He will stop at nothing less than to destroy us.
PERSONAL APPLICATION: IT IS TIME TO STAND UP AND FIGHT! We have got to claim our minds as holy ground. Meditate on the Word of God day and night (Joshua 1:8). Are you sick, depressed, anxious, or worried? Where do you think those attacks are coming from? It is time to stand our ground and remind Satan whom we belong to! If you see one of our brothers or sisters in a battle – HELP THEM! When Moses held his hands up in battle, Israel prevailed. After a while he became weary and Aaron and Hur responded by holding up his arms until the Israelites were able to finally defeat the Amalekites (Ex. 17:11). How much more would we prepare for battle if we could see with our earthly eyes those things in the spiritual realm that are taking place.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the armor you have given us to daily fight this battle we are in. Help us to stand our ground when the attacks are prevalent and allow us to surround others that are in the heat of battle. Always remind us that You already paid the price and won the war!
In Jesus’ Name- Amen
